A stunned moment in Madrid left fans whispering as a tossed object interrupted Eric Clapton's set — did it hit him? Read on to discover the full story!

What unfolded on stage

At age 81, Clapton was performing in Madrid on May 7 when footage shows him finishing "Cocaine" and walking offstage as an object struck his chest. The item, which looked like a vinyl record, bounced away and the guitarist paused before leaving the stage. Unlike some other nights on this tour, he did not return for an encore in Madrid.

He carried on with the tour

Reports say Clapton did not appear injured and resumed performing, playing the next concert in Barcelona on May 10. He is slated to complete his European run in Germany and will bring shows to the U.S. in September, including six dates in cities such as Detroit, Chicago and Kansas City.
