A star-studded reunion

On May 11 Colbert hosted Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers and John Oliver for a joint interview, reuniting the group behind the Strike Force Five podcast. They said they recorded an "emergency" Strike Force Five episode to support Colbert, set to drop May 13, and traded playful, reflective remarks on why late night still matters.

Farewell weeks on the Ed Sullivan stage

The Late Show will air its final episode on May 21. David Letterman is slated to appear on the May 14 episode. Colbert, who began hosting on Sept. 8, 2015 and ran the show for 11 seasons, previously announced on July 17, 2025 that the talk show would end; CBS described the decision as "purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night." Colbert has also criticized corporate decisions tied to the network.
