Significance of the visit

The May 13–14 trip highlighted the Reggio Emilia Approach and was Kate's first international work visit since her March 2024 cancer diagnosis and January 2025 remission. During the visit she received the city’s "Primo Tricolore" honor from Mayor Marco Massari.

A personal touch

Born Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, she became Duchess of Cambridge after marrying Prince William in 2011 and became Princess of Wales in 2022. Kate studied in Florence in 2000, has joked about her Italian skills and is mother to Prince George (12), Princess Charlotte (11) and Prince Louis (8).
