Warnings Ignored

Reports indicate some individuals managed to self-rescue amidst the chaos. The state broadcaster RTVE reminded viewers that authorities had issued warnings regarding dangerous waves as early as Sunday. While the natural pools are often regarded as hidden gems by tourists, they can quickly turn deadly during rough seas. Powerful waves can pull people out to open waters, and the strong currents make it challenging to return safely.

Just a short time before this incident, on November 8, Tenerife experienced similar harrowing scenes, where many were swept into the sea, resulting in three fatalities and 15 injuries. Once again, the island faces the repercussions of nature's might.
